Christmas Eve eve

roadtobeth

Journey to Bethlehem

It’s Christmas Eve eve and I am totally ready for Christmas!

Are all the projects I wanted to make made?  No.  I tried but there have just been too many other things that needed my attention first.

Like. . . my sweet little 2 yr. old who was sick and only happiest in my arms for 2 days.

Like. . . a broken water heater last week that still is not fixed.  It’s under warranty and Sears is replacing it but they can’t come and install it until Jan. 6th so we are picking up the replacement and having it done by someone else . . . hopefully.  Except that it’s almost Christmas and everyone is busy and except that the only store that has it in stock is a 45 minute drive one way.  So we’re probably still going to be without hot water on Christmas.  Boiling water for baths and dishes takes time.  Making phone calls and waiting for repairmen takes time.  Time I just haven’t been able to use for making those gifts I had planned.

OK so we don’t have a tree yet and there are no decorations up.  We do have gifts for the  children (thank God for online shopping!) but there are still a few things I need to pick up.  We do not have milk or groceries so that will be tomorrow morning’s task.

But really, it’s all OK —I’m still ready.

Because Christmas isn’t about decorations or gifts or food, it’s about love, it’s about HIM.  A God Who loves us so much that He sent us His son.  A God who loves us so much that He became man to save us.  It’s all about LOVE Himself.

So, dear friends and family, despite my best intentions I have very little to offer you . . . except my love.  But offer it I do — freely and completely.  Just as He offers His love to us.

My offering is imperfect —His is perfect.

Mine is meager — His is immense.

But it is all I have and it is yours.

May God bless you greatly this Christmastide!

Beautifully put. I have a feeling, because of all the obstacles you just mentioned, this will be the most wonderful and blessed Christmas for your family. :) With Him so much at the core of the celebration, how can it not be completely awesome!?!

Dear Shell

Such a beautiful post…
a tree? Have the kids make one on paper.
Color it, decorate it and hang it on the wall. It will be a tree made of love!

I have plenty of HOT water in Downingtown if anyone needs a shower. It’s a long trip for a shower but it is here if you need it.

Merry Christmas. See you on SUNDAY :)

Hi Amanda,

My mom called me about that. Turns out it was only yesterday until 8PM. Hubby worked all day and then we had RCIA so we didn’t get over there. No matter, he’s out getting a tree right now. :-)
