". . . when we say that the Church is a family, we mean it quite literally. The Church is not a reflection of the reality that is "family"—quite the opposite. The family is a reflection of the reality that is the Church." -Fr. Robert Johansen

Winter Comfort

025I like french press coffee but my kitchen gets a bit cold in the winter so the coffee doesn’t stay warm long.

A few years ago I saw some gals online were making french press cozies and it’s only taken me this long to finally make one for mine. :-)

I used a double layer of navy blue wool (scraps from the cloak I am making for tiny Miss M) and thought I would add a touch of embroidery in an attempt to learn how to use my new machine.010

I really like how it turned out and am now totally in love with the embroidery machine.

It attaches at the handle with strips of hook and loop tape (akaVelcro® type stuff) and keeps the coffee perfectly warm until I am ready for that second cup.

Lovely, Michelle! I go my husband a new coffee grinder for Christmas along with other morning type things (a bacon press and butter bell). I hope I can be ambitious enough to add this! (I, too, have a new machine to test embroidery on!).

Wow that’s beautiful and practical! And here I was thinking as I looked at the picture: I wonder where she got that it would be a great present for my sister. Ah well. I’ll keep looking. Because I know I don’t have time for that.

Melanie, I understand not having the time but this was a REALLY fast project. Skip the embroidery and go for a print and it’s done in no time!

Linda, Thanks for the tip on the metal insulated french presses –hopefully I won’t need a replacement anytime soon!

    Michele,

I generally am not a machine embroidery enthusiast but I have to say that I just love the embroidery on your cozy. Well done!
