Don’t forget to stop by Peggy’s for all the links entered in this week’s Simple Woman’s Daybook.
Outside my window. . . cool and sunny. It’s 65 degrees - I love it! I can just barely smell the promise of fall —my favorite season.
I am thinking. . . how happy I am that the conference is over and that it went so well. My speakers were phenomenal —I am so pleased!
I am thankful for. . . good friends, a beautiful loving family and an awesome Church.
From the kitchen. . . coffee, coffee and more coffee.
I am creating. . . a plan for the rest of the week. We’re 5 days away from the wedding!
I am going. . . to Lowe’s for more carpet runner, to the dairy for my weekly milk run and to the post office and UPS. And that’s just for starters.
I am wearing. . .a navy blue tee top, jean skirt and tan crocs. Hair is piled into the one clip I have that’s big enough to hold it all.
I am reading. . . Haystack Full of Needles by the fabulously talented Alice Gunther. This is the book every home educating mother needs to read. This book isn’t just about socialization, it’s so much more. It’s about love and community and nourishing relationships and the idea that as a Church we really are family. I have so much more to say about this book but I want to write about it separately so I’ll stop there for now.
I am hoping. . .that Carolyn, the bride and my soon-to-be daughter-in-law is feeling well today both physically and emotionally. You see, she broke her foot on Friday and may have to be on crutches for the wedding. Our family is offering up every trial and difficulty for her this week and we sure would appreciate it if you offered a prayer or two.
I am hearing. . . Kevin finishing up his chores before heading off to Catholic heart work camp. He’ll be working all week doing fix-it and cleaning jobs for the elderly.
Around the house. . .laying a carpet runner up the stairs. Finishing those dresses. Cleaning, cooking. LOTS to do.
One of my favorite things. . . laughing with friends. I did a lot of that this weekend.
A few plans for the rest of the week. . . fill orders, clean, cook, sew, shop, cut hair.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you. . . my wide eyed, messy face, precious little bundle of joy.

Good morning Michele. What a busy day you have planned. Prayers for you and your family as you prepare for your son’s wedding. I am sure it will be a beautiful day, even if the bride is on crutches (I showed up at our rehearsal with a butterfly bandage on my head - got bopped when the over the door hanger fell on my head while hanging up my dress - then I saw red on the dress - fortunately it was only some red sequins under the top layer of lace! And if you look at the close up pictures, you can see the bruise and cut on my forehead. We all have storie to tell of our wedding days).

Many prayers for you and your family, and the bride, as you approach the wedding!
I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it to the conference after all. It was just “too much” after the week we had (turns out it was good I didn’t go though, as dh and I both got sick that night!)
I’m sure it was just wonderful!!!!

Good Morning Michele -
My friend Lindsay was telling me at Mass yesterday how lovely the conference was, how I need to hear the tapes! We were both thinking of your upcoming wedding, all the best!
Hopefully I can come next year!
I too love the Fall and await the cool crispness eagerly and I am also so impatient to recieve my pre-ordered HAYSTACK book!

What an incredibly busy week you’ll have, but for a great reason! Congratulations on the wedding. I hope your soon-to-be daughter-in-law’s foot feels better soon. I broke my little toe once, a week before driving our car on a 400-mile move since my husband had to drive the U-Haul. (I learned it’s better to wear shoes when you’re packing up a house!)
