Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ Dec. 1, 2008

December 1, 2008

FOR TODAY . . .

Outside my window. . . bright, sunny and 45 degrees.  It’s supposed to reach 50 today —how nice.  It was a rainy weekend so the sunshine is a welcome change.

I am thinking. . . about the weeks ahead leading to Christmas.  I don’t feel anxious but I do have a full plate.  I know from experience that being organized will help me.  When I write down what needs (and what I want to) get done and then check them off, things go much smoother and I feel a sense of accomplishment.  I’m also learning to let a lot go and just focus on “good enough” so that we can enjoy this time and not stress over it.  So far so good.

I am thankful for. . . oh my it’s so hard to say because I am thankful for so many things.  My husband, my family, my home, my faith.  I am VERY blessed.

From the schoolroom. . . listening to narrations and nudging them to get their end of term work complete!

From the kitchen. . . it’s Monday so you already know it’s oatmeal day.  I am having tea but no toast today.  I am going low carb and have given up sugar and flour for a time.  I’ll add the flour back in as whole grain in a few weeks.  I’m down 5 lb. since Thanksgiving and feeling great!  My breakfast this morning will be scrambled eggs and veggies.

I am wearing. . . blue jeans, brown tee top, white cardigan sweater and brown crocs.  My hair is brushed –no makeup yet.

I am creating. . . items to sell at the upcoming artisan fair at our parish.  I’ll have my planners there but I’m also making some soft baby shoes and ornaments.  Of course I am also working on Christmas presents.  Oh and a doll for Maria’s birthday next week.

I am going. . . to the post office, grocery store.  The usual Monday errands.  Hopefully I can get my act together and go very soon to avoid the traffic.

I am reading. . . not much at the moment.  I’m still working on the same books as the last few weeks but progress is slow as I don’t sit down to read very often these days.

I am hoping. . . that we can find a way to appease my crying 2 yr. old dd this morning.  She’s not sick or anything, just a bit spoiled and wants what she wants when she wants it.

I am hearing. . .that sound of her whining cry.  Ah, now it’s gone and she is chattering sweetly.

Around the house. . . sewing, cooking, laundry and cleaning.  Pretty much the usual.  I suspect we’ll be throwing in some baking as well.  No decorating yet.  It’s Advent people, not Christmas!

One of my favorite things. . . the way Maria shrugs her shoulders all the time.  Not that’s it’s always a good thing (like when she spills her milk on the floor and shrugs her shoulders like “no big deal”) but it sure is cute!  Oh and then there’s they way she says “um, um” to stall answering you or doing something she’s told.  Too cute!

A few plans for the rest of the week. . . RCIA, basketball, sewing cooking cleaning, filling orders.  The usual routine.

Here is picture thought I am sharing. . .

Matthew and Peter waiting for cake and ice cream at Peter’s birthday celebration on Saturday. (psst Heather, notice the shirt Matthew has on?  It’s his favorite already!)

As always, don’t forget to pop by Peggy’s and see the other entries for this week’s Simple Woman’s Daybook.

I checked out all the things you are creating. I may try to make a donut tree ornament with my daughter! You are very creative.
