For Today…
Outside my window. . . roses! We had two beautiful pink roses this morning. We cut them right away because it’s so cold. Roses always make me think of Our Lady —especially these roses which are in fact, named for her.
I am thinking. . . about the rather big to do list I have to get through today. It’s Monday again –is it just me or does Monday seem to come around too often? Like, you know, every week at the same time.
I am thankful for. . . the body of Christ and the outpouring of love and support. Not just online but locally as well. A local dad stepped forward to try and help us work out the insurance issues. It’s all very humbling but when you have sick kids who need medicine and ongoing care, pride pretty much goes straight out the window. Of course that’s probably a good thing. Heaven knows I could use some growth in humility.
And I’m really happy that Maggie’s ER visit yesterday was short lived. She’s OK –has something viral going on they think but nothing serious. The triage nurse told us we looked familiar. Yeah, I’m thinking I may be making Christmas cookies for the bunch over there. A friend remarked to me that wasn’t it something to think how God placed us so close to the hospital and diabetes clinic because he knew we would need it. She’s right –there’s great comfort in knowing that help is only a few blocks away.
From the schoolroom. . . We’re nearing the end of the term so the older kids especially are working hard to get done and get those final narrations in. The little kids and I are plugging along. We’ll be adding in a few crafts this week –most likely of the turkey variety.
From the kitchen. . . tea, toast, and oatmeal like every other Monday. Coffee is calling me from down the block (I swear I can smell it!) and I am looking for a willing son to go get it for me. Lunch will be leftover homemade bean soup from yesterday. Perfect for a chilly day like today –yum!
Dinner? I’m still pondering my options (read: I have no clue).
I am wearing. . . a jean skirt, brown knee high socks, brown leather loafers, black tank tee and black LE cardigan. Hair is bushed –no makeup.
I am creating. . . Christmas gifts! Can’t share –too many nosy readers here.
I am going . . . to the post office to mail orders, hopefully to the dairy. Right now I’m going to the kitchen to fetch Miss Maria who is yet again where she should not be!
I am reading. . . nothing new. I didn’t really even get any reading done last week. Well, I read e-mail and few online articles but that’s pretty much it.
I am hoping. . . for a speedy resolution to our current medical insurance woes.
Around the house. . . orders to fill –that’s my first priority. Did I mention the 2009 planner is available? it is!
One of my favorite things. . . the smiles on my children’s faces –love that!
A few plans for the rest of the week. . . as always, RCIA, basketball practice, errands and shopping. Still haven’t gotten the suburban in the shop and now the Jetta needs to go to. It has a light bulb out and unfortunately it’s in a location that requires a shop visit.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you. . .
Maria keeping Maggie company Sunday morning —and listening to Phantom of the Opera on big sister’s mp3 player
As always, don’t forget to pop by Peggy’s and see the other entries for this week’s Simple Woman’s Daybook.

Ah, roses in November…I’m envious! We had snow this a.m. I must say, I love snow nearly as much as roses…but not quite!
Many continued prayers for you and your dear family. May God continue to bless you and preserve you in His perfect peace.
Praying for Maggie and for your insurance issues to be resolved. The picture reminds me of my little one, whose Christmas wish list is “a green num-num (soother) for my baby and a little iPod … a BLUE iPod”. Dream on!
How do you find the time to sew with everything you have going on? I want to make some things for Christmas gifts, but it’s not getting past the “purchasing fabric” stage!
I hope things get straightened out soon.
God bless,
Sara
Why does insurance stuff have to be so long and complicated? Who thought up all the codes for all the procedures and the deductibles, and the in network/out of network….it goes on and on…
Good Luck!
Hi Michele,
I’m sure you probably checked into this already, but I wanted to suggest contacting the drug manufacturer because sometimes they have programs for people who don’t have insurance. I used to practice medicine (now I am home with my kids) and we would help patients do that sometimes.
Will keep your family in my prayers.
Sara asked:
Sara,
I gt asked that a lot. Honestly sewing for me is like cooking and cleaning it’s just what I do. OK so I don’t really cook that much but you know what I mean.
Also, I have a permanent place set up for sewing in my bedroom (it’s a BIG room). If I had to drag things out to get going I’d never get started. And my family is used to it. All of my children learn from a very young age that you NEVER take Mommy’s sewing scissors for anything.
Really though if I am sewing it’s not an unusual thing, it’s just another thing I do so they behave normally (which isn’t to say they actually “behave”) and do their chores anyway –at least that’s the ideal.
Even so I don’t sew every day and there are months when I don’t get anything done –though I do think about it, which strangely holds me over until I can get sewing again (I’m a little obsessive maybe?).
