I need to decide on my dress for my son’s wedding. I have an idea but I need feedback.
I have this pattern:

My idea is to make the dress like this:
Longer length than the pattern and 3/4 sleeves.
The top collar part would be white and the rest of the dress navy blue.
I like this pattern because that gathered part in the middle will help hide my —10 babies, will never be flat again— poochy tummy. Of course the question is will it make me look prego? Well I am planning to make a test garment to find out and I was thinking I would use a very drapey fabric so that would help it lay nice.
So. . .
Yay? Nay? Thoughts. Let me have it.

I like that pattern. I must admit I haven’t made a dress for myself for years, usually make skirts. But that’s beside the point The colours , navy and white sound lovely. Not sure if it would make you look pregnant,if it seemed like that you could try taking the side seams in a little, just a thought. I’m sure you’ll look lovely in whatever you make.
I’m on the fence with this pattern – it looks cute on the envelope, but I can see what you’re saying about a potential ‘pregnancy’ look too. I’m anxious to see a muslin to see how it looks sewn up. I do love the color combination you chose!
