Fun Finds

January 9, 2006

I stopped by the dollar store this morning after going to the gym. Today is the gift exchange for my dd’s Little Flowers group so in my typical last minute fashion I stopped to pick up gifts. ;-) BUT I also found some nice educational stuff for my younger children. I got large wooden lacing beads for my 16 month old who is at this very moment happily placing them in a Christmas tin and then having even more fun dumping them all over the floor. OK so he’s not lacing them but hey he’s having fun [correction, he is now pitching them across the room - wow, I forgot a 16 month old could throw so hard! ]. I also got letters for the fridge but not the plastic kind, these are wood with magnetic backing. My 6 yo dd and 3 yo ds are having fun with those.

AND I picked up 4 different Pooh learning game cards [colors and shapes, first words, number match & go together game]. They’re SO cute. We love Pooh. :-) The cards all came in these nifty little trays so I cut off the name of the game and pasted it on to the end of the tray for easy stacking and identifying. Great finds. Fun, educational and inexpensive!

And you know what was really cool? When I walked outside of the store into a beautiful near 50 degrees day, it smelled like candy! Strawberry Twizzlers to be exact. The Twizzler factory is a few miles away and given that Lancaster County can often have a . . . well, “farm” smell, candy is a welcome change.
