". . . when we say that the Church is a family, we mean it quite literally. The Church is not a reflection of the reality that is "family"—quite the opposite. The family is a reflection of the reality that is the Church." -Fr. Robert Johansen

Dec. 14th 2009 — Family-Centered Snapshots

Outside: Winter has arrived –maybe not officially but the weather certainly says winter. This morning is overcast and cold though I was really hoping for some sunshine after yesterday’s rain.  The forecast says partly cloudy but currently all I am seeing is the cloudy. Oh wait, I think I see the sun peeking out . . . no, false alarm.  But the house is warm and the coffee is hot so I’m content for now.

On the agenda: Irish dance and helping Miss M break in those hard shoes.  Also a dinner to attend though unfortunately I feel a cold coming on.  My ears ache as does the back of my throat.  I’m going to try and get some rest before the dinner.  I don’t think that will be terribly difficult considering I am still sleepy this morning, even after two cups of coffee.  But I need to go make beds and tidy up a few things.  Seven planner orders have already been mailed so I have at least accomplished something!

In my ears: a whiny, crying 3 yr. old Tiny Miss M who didn’t want to go shopping with daddy and can’t understand why her biggest sister might need a break from her so that she can concentrate.  Also, a biggest brother teaching math to younger siblings.  I love that!

On my mind: Less than 2 weeks until Christmas begins.  We’re in the 3rd week of Advent.  Have I finished shopping?  No.

On my heart: A local family’s heartache one year after losing their daughter quite unexpectedly. An online friend whose husband leaves today. In my prayers along with so many others.

On my wishlist: “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”.  We watched Julie and Julia last week and I have delusions of being able to cook well (and I’m pretty sure my mom’s getting me the book).

On the menu: Spaghetti with meat sauce here –dinner party for Tim and I.

On my bedside table: In Conversation with God.

On my lap: Tiny Miss M , now crying because she bumped her head.  She’s better now.  I let her watch PBS.  I know, I’m a pushover.

Julie and Julia gave me delusions of being able to cook too. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for the rest of the family!) our library didn’t have the book so I couldn’t test out the theory.

Belated happy birthday to both Misses M :) . And I love, love, love the leotard and ballet shoes.
