A winter skirt wearing solution

I like wearing skirts but in the winter it’s a challenge because I do not like wearing tights (I just cannot stand how they feel) so I made myself some “pantaloons” today that are just perfect! I used Simplicity 2611 and instead of the yoke attached stretch lace.  This worked very well for not adding bulk  under my skirts (something I do NOT need).  They give just enough warmth to my legs...

I made this cape for Maria just after Christmas and finally got some pics.  It’s a nice heavy weight wool lined with flannel backed satin.  It’s her “church” cape. She’s pretty thrilled with it. The chalice veil* and burse** are finished! The burse was the biggest challenge. I found directions online but struggled for a bit until I finally figured it out. I discovered in my research that the burse opens to the right –which was important for the fabric pattern’s direction, so I was glad to have found that out BEFORE I started sewing.
