Book Review

Anyone familiar with the Inos Biffi books knows how beautiful they are and how hard some of them are to obtain because they are out of print.

Liturgy Training Publications has recently compiled four volumes into one with their new release An Illustrated Catechism which includes:

• The Creed: Examines each article of the Apostles’ Creed, citing scriptural references
• The Sacraments: Helps the reader place the seven sacraments within the context of the New Testament and the important role they fulfill in the lives of Catholics
• The Commandments: Explains each of the Ten Commandments as a guide to Christian living
• Prayer: Introduces liturgical and private prayer and ends with a short collection of prayers common to our faith

I am very pleased with this book. Besides being beautiful visually, the text itself is fabulous. This book is not just for children either, it makes a great gift for adults too.

It’s doctrinally sound with clear and thoughtful wording. We will be using this book for catechesis here at home and I plan to give it as a gift for my RCIA candidates and catechumens.

Now I am hoping LTP will reprint An Introduction to the Liturgical Year which is yet another treasure.
