Baby Watch - Week 39
Almost there! (Sorry, no picture - if I make it to 40 weeks I’ll take one last shot.) OB check today went well but they scheduled me for an ultrasound to try and determine how big this baby might be - since the last one was 10 lb. Not that it means anything really. The margin of error this late in the game is a pound or two up or down and I wouldn’t elect for a c-section anyway but apparently they will need to have a physican in the room if the baby is suspected to be 11 lb. or more. I don’t think she’ll be that big though - at least I hope not! Ultrasound is Wednesday (if I don’t deliver before then).
I couldn’t make it to mass yesterday because my back has been hurting quite badly for the 2 days. It feels strained in that when I move a certain way I get a jolt of pain. It’s OK as long as I am still. But thanks be to God, Fr. Bernard came to see me and brought me communion and prayed over me and I am feeling A LOT better today. Actually he stopped by again this morning and gave me another blessing. Since he is the hospital chaplin and we live just 2 blocks from the hospital we are fortunate to get visits from him pretty often.
We are very blessed. God is good!

Nov 27, 2006 - 09:11:36Michele, How wonderful that your priest brought you Communion yesterday. What a blessing!
I grow them big too. Usually in the 9 pound ballpark. Sorry to hear that the back pain is bad. You’re in my prayers. Hang in there.
God Bless.
Michele — 10 POUNDS! Wow, hope this one isn’t quite that big…..praying for a safe and happy delivery … Blessings!
Thanks for the update, Michele.
We’ll be praying for the countdown.
Michele, I will keep you and your baby in my prayers. My last baby was a surprising 10 lbs 12 oz (over 2 lbs heavier than any of my previous babies). I am 36 weeks and I have been told that if this baby is looking big at 38 weeks the doctor will induce me (the other option, a c-section at 40 weeks). Like you, I am hoping that the baby comes on his own, when he is ready.
I pray that your back pain subsides and that your baby isn’t considered too big.
If she turns out to be over 10lbs she will be nearly as big as my Little Cherub is at 6 months (OK, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but she was only 12lbs 12oz at 5 months, so not far off!). Praying for her safe arrival and that your back pain will ease off.
I’ll be praying for a safe delivery, Michelle. We welcomed Sienna Catherine into our family on November 15th. She was three weeks early but I developed high blood pressure and had gestational diabetes. So, to be safe I was induced. She was still 8# 4 oz. But, my babies are all big. The last two were 10.8 and 10.2.
It’s so wonderful to have another little one in the house. Now we are even–4 boys and 4 girls.
Michelle,
So exciting! We’ll pray for you for a safe delivery. I have big babies, too, but found my biggest baby was actually my easiest delivery.
God Bless!
