A unexpected blessing

Ph03372iI made a joke last week about either having spring cleaning fever or being pregnant because I came home from Memphis and cleaned my kitchen from top to bottom. Well it may be spring cleaning fever but as it turns out, I am pregnant! It wasn’t planned but it’s certainly welcomed. The funny part is that we found out on April 1st and all the children (except the oldest - clever man) thought it was an April fool’s joke! But it’s most definitely not a joke and now I can look back over the last few weeks and suddenly make sense of seemingly random things. Like how I keep dropping things, why I’m so tired all the time, why smells have become so much more noticeable and why I burst into tears when I got lost in Nashville last week and nearly burst into tears again later when the hostess at Cracker Barrel asked me how my day was going (poor girl).

Funny story: Last week dd Maggie (who is 6) told me she wanted us to have another baby and said “this time I think it would be really neat if we had a Chinese baby.” Trying very hard not to burst out laughing I explained to her that to have a Chinese “tummy” baby either mommy or daddy would have to be Chinese…and we’re not. She was clearly disappointed and replied “Oh, I was hoping the baby could teach us Spanish”. Again, trying not to laugh I said “do you mean Chinese?” Realizing her mistake she said “Oh yes that’s what I meant!” and then I had to disappoint her again and explain to her that babies aren’t born knowing how to speak the language of their ethnicity. It really was adorable!

And now I’m going to go take a nap.

The way I just shouted this news to my husband you would have thought that I was pregnant! Your witness in viewing this as an unexpected blessing rather than a burden is really inspirational.

Maureen, I’m due sometime between ds Peter’s (4) and dd Maggie’s (6) birthdays or rather about the first week of Dec. :-)
CityMom, thanks so much for your kind words. I know too much to ever consider another baby a burden. ;-) God’s really been giivng me hints the past few months as I have been simply DROOLING over any baby I see. To be perfectly honest I am THRILLED that I get the priveledge of possibly having another child.

Well, Michele, this is way past due.

My congratulations, I mean…not the baby. LOL

I wanted to write you a nice congratulatory message and it’s just not happening. Lack of time, not lack of will.

So here are my humble, but heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS!

I’m thrilled for you and yours.
