Sick and feeble - well, not exactly.
Our two youngest boys, Peter and Matthew, are sick. They both have strep throat. They rarely even get sick so strep throat in the middle of summer was a surprise to me (it has been suggested to me that they may have contracted it at the pool we go to - one more reason not to like the pool I say! - I’m just not a pool mom) Anyway they are quite miserable though tonight we seemed to have turned the corner and I am hoping for more sleep and a better day tomorrow.
As for me I am now officially at 20 weeks and therefore exactly halfway through this pregnancy! My health insurance recently changed its policy on prenatal care and now requires me to transfer from my regular family practice doctor to my OB sooner than the previously allowed 32 weeks. In one sense it’s good because the OB office is closer but I do like my family practice dr. and I don’t really like the whole OB “group” idea (though I do like some of the individual doctors and midwives). I had my first appt. yesterday. It was the long one with just the nurse where they ask you a million question and you wonder aloud why in this age of computers they don’t have all this on record so you don’t have to repeat it every time. ![]()
Shocker of shocks the nurse told me I was of “advanced maternal age” (aka - old to be having a baby). LOL! I certainly don’t feel like I am old but that’s what they tell me. Seriously, I know it’s just a term but it seemed so ridiculous to me. Anyway she suggested I should have a level 2 ultrasound to which I happily agreed because I am certainly fine with the idea of getting to see my baby in greater detail! We’re hoping to find out the gender. I’ll keep you updated — and I’ll post a belly shot in a few days too!

Halfway there, congratulations! I just told dh last night that I am 1/3 of the way there! Can’t wait to see a belly shot and hear if it’s a boy or a girl! Prayers continue for you and baby!
Shel,
I don’t think you are old at all! Especially since you are younger than me. I must thank you for giving me a much needed chuckle today. I can just see you trying to patiently sit there while being asked all those questions. I will lift up a prayer for Matthew and Peter. I can’t wait for the belly shot! Praying that you are blessed with another girl! Lots of Love to everyone
Thanks for the prayers. It turned out that last night was NOT a good night for sleep. :-/
Michele: On my chart at theOB is a large neon orange sticker with the initials AMA(advanced maternal age). Underneath is a much smaller sticker declaring my allergy to penicillin. Apparantly it is more important for people to know I am old than to know of my allergy. I was a more than a little put out.
Congratulations on 20 weeks!
