I’m in a virtual/long distance quilting bee. In all my years of sewing I’ve never actually made a quilt so I am looking forward to the challenge. I’m the ‘designer’ for January –you can see my fabrics picks over at my sewing blog. If you want to follow what what we’re doing you can see our fabric choices and quilt blocks on the group’s flickr page.

No wheat, no white sugar –that’s my new mantra. Both of those things seems to affect me adversely so I am trying to avoid them. I’ve also started using light therapy. I have dealt with SAD for years and after just 3 days of light therapy I am wondering why I didn’t do this a long time ago. Because I know someone will ask, I use the NatureBright SunTouch Plus Light and Ion Therapy Lamp. It was inexpensive (as far as lightboxes go) and I’m happy with it so far. I am using it for 30 minutes upon waking (while checking e-mail and having my morning tea). Why light therapy? Do a Goggle search and read the studies –it’s impressive.

It feels like Facebook has exploded this week with activity. I’ve reconnected with a bunch of school friends and it’s kind of neat. My hubby even has a facebook now –which we all told him he needed and he agreed we could set up for him. So I did! Except I don’t think he really thought I would. But he’s having fun —right honey?

#3 – That is so interesting. I can’t wait to hear more about that. I never cease to be amazed at how much something as simple as light can impact our health.
#6 – Thank you for sharing!! I was a big fan of her old blog and am so excited to see that.

I love quilting… I had to give it up for a few years while my boys were little… just couldn’t seem to manage keeping at it and got too frustrated. They’re older now and I have made each boy (2) a quilt this year for their room. One is still in the hand-quilting frame I inherited from my great-grandmother (no not quite complete)… the other is finished and waiting for a bit warmer weather — the feather beds are still in use now.
I also made a quilt top for a German cousin of my husband as a joint project with my MIL. She likes to do the handquilting, so she’ll finish it.
I wish you much fun and success on your quilting efforts.
Janet.

re: #3. No wheat and no sugar, I need to do that. I’m having a hard time being Hard on myself and denying things when I’m so down. And the light thing…I should look into that. I’m seriously having some down times here, and you’ve given me an idea that it might be SAD.
