". . . when we say that the Church is a family, we mean it quite literally. The Church is not a reflection of the reality that is "family"—quite the opposite. The family is a reflection of the reality that is the Church." -Fr. Robert Johansen

E-mail that makes you smile

Remember Twitter?  I’m still there.  I like it actually.  I like the tidbits of info. without lengthy e-mails and the links to new posts from favorite bloggers. So this morning I signed up to follow Pope Benedict XVI.  Of course it’s not actually the pope,  it’s a “fan” who posts updates on the Holy Father’s messages –but hey that’s cool. What made me smile was...

Make Shades Out of Mini Blinds

Oh wow what a great idea this is!  Use mini blinds to make beautiful shades.  I am thinking about a beat-up (though still functional) set of mini blinds that I have stashed in a closet being just perfect for this project.  What a simple and ingenious idea! I have several windows that could use shades and the “plan” has been to make roman shades but I just haven’t done it yet –this looks...

Congratulations to the Gunthers and welcome Jude Gerard! — 2 — I decided to delete the Family-Centered Living forum last week . I opened the forum in March of last year and then life here changed dramatically in May and again in September.  Mercifully the forum was always quite manageable. ...

Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ February 9th, 2009

Outside my window . . . bright, sunny and 37 °F.  It’s beginning to feel a lot like Spring.  We’ll probably have more cold weather –maybe even snow, but this spring preview gives us great hope! I am thinking . . . that 4 yr. old Matthew’s nickname could easily be “Grumpy” —at least this morning.  I am also thinking about something that’s been on my mind the last...

With sympathy

Yesterday brought the very sad news of the death of Catholic author, husband and father, Michael Dubruiel. I am so very sorry for this tragic loss. Please pray for the repose of Michael’s soul, and for his grieving wife and children. Danielle Bean has set up a collection for Amy Welborn (Michael’s widow) at Faith and Family and I would like to encourage everyone to buy Michael’s book as well. In...
