Simple Woman’s Daybook for July 28th, 2008
Don’t forget to stop by Peggy’s for all the links entered in this week’s Simple Woman’s Daybook.
Outside my window. . . cool and sunny. It’s 65 degrees - I love it! I can just barely smell the promise of fall —my favorite season.
I am thinking. . . how happy I am that the conference is over and that it went so well. My speakers were phenomenal —I am so pleased!
I am thankful for. . . good friends, a beautiful loving family and an awesome Church.
From the kitchen. . . coffee, coffee and more coffee.
I am creating. . . a plan for the rest of the week. We’re 5 days away from the wedding!
I am going. . . to Lowe’s for more carpet runner, to the dairy for my weekly milk run and to the post office and UPS. And that’s just for starters.
I am wearing. . .a navy blue tee top, jean skirt and tan crocs. Hair is piled into the one clip I have that’s big enough to hold it all.
I am reading. . . Haystack Full of Needles by the fabulously talented Alice Gunther. This is the book every home educating mother needs to read. This book isn’t just about socialization, it’s so much more. It’s about love and community and nourishing relationships and the idea that as a Church we really are family. I have so much more to say about this book but I want to write about it separately so I’ll stop there for now.
I am hoping. . .that Carolyn, the bride and my soon-to-be daughter-in-law is feeling well today both physically and emotionally. You see, she broke her foot on Friday and may have to be on crutches for the wedding. Our family is offering up every trial and difficulty for her this week and we sure would appreciate it if you offered a prayer or two.
I am hearing. . . Kevin finishing up his chores before heading off to Catholic heart work camp. He’ll be working all week doing fix-it and cleaning jobs for the elderly.
Around the house. . .laying a carpet runner up the stairs. Finishing those dresses. Cleaning, cooking. LOTS to do.
One of my favorite things. . . laughing with friends. I did a lot of that this weekend.
A few plans for the rest of the week. . . fill orders, clean, cook, sew, shop, cut hair.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you. . . my wide eyed, messy face, precious little bundle of joy.

Family-Centered Learning Conference
I have pictures to share and much I’d like to say but really not enough time or brain power to do it.
So I’m just posting pictures with short commentary. Look for many more this week from other bloggers who were here but keep in mind that some of them are still here and others may have just arrived home and it could take them a while. Me, I have a wedding to prepare for!
CD’s of all the speakers talks (5) are ready and will be available for sale on the Family-Centered Press website sometime tomorrow. Bear with me please as I have 35 planner orders to get out as well.
——————————-
The Family-Centered picnic on Friday was a great success. It was potluck and we had tons of food. No one went hungry. Thank you everyone for your generosity!
I’m posting all the images as thumbnails. Just click on them to get a larger view. Some of the pictures are great, some are poor quality –I apologize for that.
I loved this. If anyone wasn’t sure where the pavilion was we were easily found by all the large vehicles. . .
and pro-life bumper stickers!
The conference on Saturday was great. The speakers were truly fabulous! I could not have asked for a better group. Every single speaker was engaging and interesting. Thank you ladies for doing such a wonderful job!
That last shot is my son Kyle who did a truly great job of recording the talks, and quickly getting them cleaned up and burned to CDs. Thank you Kyle!
Thank you to Mary Ellen who was a tremendous help to me over this last year of preparation. And a very special thank you to Sally Morgan and Yvette Freeman. Two dear friends who did a wonderful job of organizing and serving both breakfast and lunch. Most of all thank you to my dear husband Tim. Who has been both patient and helpful, as always.
Thank you to everyone who came. I know there were many of you who wanted to be here but simply couldn’t. We missed you.
So everyone keeps asking me “Will there be another one next year?”
Maybe.

Conference teaser
It’s over. We had a wonderful time but it’s over and I can sleep –at least until next week. . .
More details tomorrow!

Simple Woman’s Daybook for July 21st
Don’t forget to stop by Peggy’s for all the links entered in this week’s Simple Woman’s Daybook.

Outside my window… gosh it’s hot. Well, the temperature actually isn’t terribly high today but the humidity is. I am getting so tired of being sticky and sweaty. Another month and it should cool off, hopefully . . .
I am thinking… of a million things. The conference is five days away and the wedding is 11 days away. MUCH to do!
I am thankful for… my health. Really, I could not do all this if I was sick.
From the kitchen… tuna salad on toast and iced tea.
I am creating… nothing. I have loads of ideas in my head and no time to implement them at the moment.
I am going… to the dairy for my weekly milk run. I have been getting milk from a local dairy. They sell hormone free milk and it’s $1 less than milk in the grocery store (milk prices are regulated in PA so there’s a minimum that stores can sell it at). I buy seven gallons at a time and line them across the back of my refrigerator. The milk comes in bags so they line up nicely and take up less room than gallon jugs. I pay $2.90/gallon for 2% milk and we use a gallon a day (that’s rationing it –they’d drink more if I let them!)
I am wearing… grey shorts, a tan tee and tan crocs. Work clothes.
I am reading… nothing at the moment –too busy.
I am hoping… to get everything done that needs to be done and not to stress about the rest.
I am hearing… Kyle sandpapering the wall, various chatter as we finish up lunch.
Around the house… we’re prepping the dining room for painting and I’m wallpapering the wall in the living room that needed it since Dec. when my dear husband painted the rest of the room for me.
One of my favorite things… being able to tick an item off my list. I did that this morning. Ahhh, feels so good!
A few plans for the rest of the week… Hmm let’s see. Finish sewing the girls dresses, shop, make copies, stuff folders. OK you really don’t want to know what my plans are and I really don’t want to type them all out.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…
