For what it’s worth, I really dislike this new Lenten blog theme I have up — in fact I cringe every time I look at it .
But that’s the point. I’m using this Lent to look at what makes me cringe about myself –and hopefully, come Easter, there will be something lovely in its...

Here’s mine!
I like it.
Dunno who to tip my hat to though as I am seeing these everywhere now and don’t have a clue who was the first.
Well that was fun . . . oh wait, it’s Lent we aren’t supposed to be having fun.
My bad. ...

The ‘Marked’ Men and Women of Lent
By: Felix Carroll
Lent, which began Wednesday, is not supposed to be easy.
Right away, with Ash Wednesday, we confront an uncomfortable truth: “Remember, you are dust, and to dust you will return.”
That’s what the priest tells us as he smears the burned residue of palm fronds upon our foreheads. Not exactly the feel-good sentiments that inspire...

Catholic Fire lists this book as “must read” for Lent and I have to agree. This book is top of my list for Lenten reading this year.
His Suffering and Ours by Kathryn Mulderink
“Our suffering is of many kinds – spiritual, mental, emotional, physical, psychological. It may be inflicted on us from outside ourselves, or be churned up from within us by forces we little understand. This collection...

Here’s the booties I made from the Simple Knits for Cherished Babies by Erica Knight.
They’re too small for Maria but my niece Mandee is due to have a baby any day so these are going to be for her little boy.
I’m making Maria the next size up in what’s left of the yarn I dyed...

I finished this shop apron for my second oldest son yesterday. It’s actually a darker Navy blue than it looks like here.
It was supposed to be a Christmas present but Dec. was a busy month (had a baby, lost 2 family members, then Christmas – yeah kinda busy) so he got something else and I am just now getting it finished. He’s in school for carpentry and this is what he requested. I didn’t...

We’re supposed to get 6 inches of snow tomorrow – with sleet and ice! 6 inches is no big deal and could be fun to play in (well not for me, I’ll stay inside with my tea thank you very much) but sleet and ice?? Yuck! I’m with the guy on the radio…why can’t we just have a normal snow storm like the rest of the country? In any case I have no plans to go anywhere. I have a head...

Follow Me – A Stations of the Cross Book from Suffering Servant Scriptorium
Illustrated in simple watercolors, this newest offering from author Christine Haapala is a wonderful way to introduce children to the suffering of our Savior.
Beginning with the Last Supper this book shows how the stations of the cross are not isolated events, but are of great importance in the context of the entire Paschal Mystery...

I had to take the other photo down because we decided to use it as a surprise for certain people who MAY read this blog. So I’m putting up this photo instead. Same sisters different decade. This is circa 1972. I’m the blond. Gosh my 7 yr. old dd looks just like me. Poor thing!
Mom, what’s with my hair?? And the dress – LOL – you can’t tell from the picture but where...
