A simple garter stitch hat (from The Baby Knits Book by Debbie Bliss) with a crocheted flower.
The flower isn’t on the hat in the book but I thought it would be a cute addition. After a few frustrating tries I figured out how to crochet the flower (my first foray into crochet).
The yarn is 70% merino, 20% alpaca and 10% silk. The pink yarn for the flower was what was leftover from the hat that I then hand...

While searching for a printed panel of Our Lady of Guadalupe a while back I came across this curtain for sale at Wards. I knew I had to get it and I thought I had the perfect window for it. But when it arrived It didn’t look right in that window so I set it aside until I came up with a better idea. Two nights ago while lying in bed I realized that it would be perfect for our inner front door window –...

34 years of legalized abortion and what do we have? Tragedy. Millions of children – entire generations – killed. Millions of women hurt by the lie that abortion is a good choice.
My top 6 are traveling to Washington D.C. as I write this. They are braving the cold to march for life. Thousands of others are doing the same. The theme for this year’s march is:
“Thou Shalt Protect the Equal...

Minnesota Mom posted a picture of the view from her kitchen sink and suggested others do the same.
She writes “a simple notion and yet, such a gesture of friendship. After all, the kitchen sink is where we live, breathe, pray, watch the children playing out back, and (if you’re like me) heave the occasional sigh.”
I like the idea. I like seeing the pictures of others sinks and views. I like the idea...

A Memorare for a friend who is worried this morning. . .
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that any one who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins my Mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my...

Brrr! It’s 18 °F / -8 °C here this morning! Yes, I know it’s winter but it really has not been very cold at all this year so these temperatures feel very cold indeed. Ah, but there’s nothing like a sweet little nursing 6 week old to keep you toasty warm . . .and of course, morning tea. Mia and I are up early this morning and it’s still quite dark outside. We’re enjoying the...
