Matthew is learning to count and we all find it absolutely adorable. His favorite book is Happy Baby 123. He loves babies and this book has lots of them to count. Yesterday morning I took a video of him “counting” so I thought I would share it here (since this IS a family blog and Grammie and aunties read it too )
UPDATE: There was a video here but somehow I lost it. ...

I have a new tea kettle. Well, it’s not really a “tea” kettle, it’s a water kettle but to me it’s a tea kettle. It’s electric and it’s positively brilliant! It’s been on my Amazon wish list for a while but I’ve been hesitating to buy it. Now that I finally have it I wonder why I waited so long. There’s several kinds out there but I chose the Braun...

The contest is over but I keep reading these all over the blog world and I couldn’t resist writing my own.
I am from curling irons, Dippety Do and soft pink rollers. From pixie cuts and plaid pants, roller skates and 45’s.
From banana seat bikes with a flower basket on the front and Tender Love, Barbie and Dawn dolls.
I am from the land rich in history, Amish buggies and rolling hills of patchwork...

Four years ago we joined a different parish in our town. The reasons were many and I won’t go into them here but I will say that our current parish has been and continues to be, a blessing to our family. Last year I felt a call towards helping with the RCIA program and asked hubby Tim how he felt about us serving in that way. He agreed and so we signed up. Suffice it to say we enjoyed our time there and...

I just realized that if you are looking at this blog using Internet Explorer it doesn’t look like it’s supposed to (there should be two columns to the right but in IE they are at the bottom of the page). I didn’t realize it because I use Firefox not IE. I have to admit it’s a bit of a hit to my vanity because I was kind of proud of how my blog looked and now I realized it doesn’t even...

Tomorrow, June 23rd, is the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Illuminated Ink’s coloring contest this month is beautiful picture of the Sacred Heart. It’s a nice activity for a hot summer afternoon and a beautiful visual reminder of the Heart which loves us so much.
And don’t forget a solemnity is a day of celebration, so even though tomorrow is Friday, it’s not a penitential day...

Last weekend I was in Denver for the 7th Annual Colorado Catholic Home Educators Conference. It was a quick trip. I flew in Friday morning rented a car and went straight to the conference. Exhausted, I was asleep by 9 pm that night in my hotel room and wide awake at 5:30 am (still being on eastern time). I had a leisurely breakfast at Ihop and headed back for another day at the conference then flew home that same...

and an excellent response: Why Doesn’t the Pope Do Something about “Bad” Bishops?
By Fr. Robert Johansen
Catholic Answers is one of my favorite sites. If you ever have questions about why we Catholics do what we do and believe what we beleive – this is the place to find answers!
And This Rock magazine is an excellent resourse. In fact I just re-ordered a subscription as a Father’s...

Maureen over at Trinity Prep School posted a challenge to Write your OWN Seven Habits of Effective Homeschool Bloggers on your blog. While we are a homeschooling family I don’t consider this a strictly homeschooling blog. It’s a family life blog but hey she invited me anyway. So I’ve been thinking about it and I really don’t feel I’m qualified to write anything about effective...
