". . . when we say that the Church is a family, we mean it quite literally. The Church is not a reflection of the reality that is "family"—quite the opposite. The family is a reflection of the reality that is the Church." -Fr. Robert Johansen

Sunday Evening

Alas I spoke too soon. It seems we have begun round two and children who didn’t get sick last week have started vomiting this evening. Thankfully they are old enough to get themselves to the bathroom in time. Cooking had been hard this week as I’ve tried to be mindful of the smells for those who are sick. Tomorrow we will grill outside and those who can eat will enjoy it and those who can’t...

Sunday Afternoon

Wow what a week! After all the conference excitement it turns out we contracted a stomach virus and have spent the week battling it. The littlest children seem to be hit the hardest but no one has vomited yet today so things are definitely looking up. I am still not feeling up to par. Nausea comes and goes but since I am still only 12 weeks along it’s difficult to know what’s normal, what’s the...

Conference notes

Well it’s over and I am exhausted . . .still, and it’s Wednesday already! Rather than take up huge amounts of space here I have posted the pictures on a separate page. Overall the conference went well. There were a few glitches; hubby hurt his back during set-up on Friday and our attendance numbers weren’t what we had hoped for, but in the end I think those who attended felt it was worthwhile. For...

Morning tea

Well here we are, two days away from the conference. This is it – the final push to get everything done that still needs done by Friday. Apparently adrenaline has kicked in for me as I found myself unable to sleep past 5:30 this morning and have 1000 ideas running through my head. Boy my kids are in for a busy day. We have 4 guests staying here with us starting tomorrow. Time to blitz! There are beds to...

A new dress

I finished this dress for Mary today. I cut it out last summer but never sewed it up. It’s a modification of Kwik Sew 2708 I changed the sleeve to make it a little more girly and lowered the neckline a bit and lengthened the hemline for my growing girl. The fabric is a cotton knit with moderate stretch. I purchased it at Hancock Fabrics last year. It fits her perfectly. Doesn’t she look...

21 years!

Today is our 21st anniversary. Thank You Lord for twenty-one beautiful years and for the children You have so generously blessed us with. It hasn’t always been easy but it’s certainly been worth...

Apron

I made this apron from Simplicty 8372 (OOP). It was super easy to make but it turned out too big even though I made it in a medium. I can deal with the width (since I have a growing waistline) but it tends to fall off my shoulders. Also, notice how the flowers are upside down an the front? I cut it wrong! Oh well, it’s only an apron. And it looks cute hanging on the peg below my teapots in the kitchen . ...

Evening Tea

I’m feeling overwhelmed today. The conference is two weeks away and there’s still plenty to do. Registrations have been slow coming in and I am starting to bite my fingernails wondering if it’s all going to be worth it financially. And then there’s orders to fill and a student planner to finish [aside for those who may be wondering: Last week when I was feeling particulary overwhelmed, dh...
