Conference FAQ

Jun 17th, 2008

Can I bring my children?

Yes certainly!  There are no scheduled children’s activities but you may certainly bring your children.  Of course we ask that you keep them in your care.  There is no entrance fee for children, just a lunch fee if you are buying lunch.  When we say “family-centered” we mean it.

Will there be a room I can nurse the baby in?

Yes!  We will have a lovely room set up to nurse, change and/or rest with babies and toddlers.

Will there be door prizes?

Yes!

Can I buy lunch if I register at the door?

No.  We need to be able to plan in advance for lunch so you must register in advance to purchase lunch.

Will the talks be recorded and available for purchase?

Yes the talks will be recorded and we hope to have them available the day of the conference.

Will there be mass?

Yes, we will begin the day with mass and will have a “chapel” set up all day for prayer and quiet.

Alice Gunther’s much anticipated book, Haystack Full of Needles, is now available for pre-order at Hillside Education!

Alice is our featured speaker and will be including this very important topic of socialization in her talks.

From the “Foreword” by Laura Berquist:

“It is a book about charity. It is a book about how to love your fellow homeschoolers, and how to demonstrate that love. It is a book about how to model the virtues of hospitality, kindness and patience for your children. It gives many excellent suggestions on how to find other homeschoolers, but, most importantly, it gives instruction in how to build a community . . .

I homeschooled my own children for 23 years. I loved those days, and I can honestly say we had a very good time. Nonetheless, I wish I had had this book . . .

I love this book and I don’t say that lightly. It is truly wonderful.”
